Julie Flynne--Booking Manager

The Old Miami has everything anyone could want in an intimate performance venue. For performers we provide a spacious stage with lights, professional sound system with recording services, and an open booking and compensation policy.

Audiences are treated to a great drink selection, fair prices, amusement games, comfortable ambiance, colorful regulars, multiple gathering areas and original live music two or three times a week.

While the majority of people flock to expensive, pretentious meat markets dominated by DJs, The Old Miami flies the flag of original live music for people who love original live music of all types. It is Detroit's proving grounds for new acts and a beloved stop of national and international performers.

What if I book a show and have to cancel?
Artists and venues should treat bookings like a business contract --but hey, stuff happens right? If you have to cancel please call us at least a week before the show so that we can fill the spot. Call us anyway, even if it's a last minute snafu.

In the event that your such a prima-donna that you blow off a booking after we've committed staffing and advertising dollars to promote your lame ass -- don't bother to call again unless it's to apologize and offer us money to let you play.

There will soon be a list of no-call no-show bands for the benefit of other live music venues.

What time do shows start?
It varies. A two or three-act show on the inside stage will start at 10:30 or 11:00. This assumes set lengths of 45 minutes with ample changeover time. Shows with four or more acts will start earlier.

We expect stage acts to arrive one and a half hours before showtime to setup, coordinate gear, time slots and door duties. The first act will have a full-on sound check if time allows.

Nope.

How are performers paid?
Unless special arrangements are made performers will be required to collect cover charge at the door. A typical cover charge would be about $5. Cover charge funds should be distributed as the performers' see fit. We believe artists should get 100% of what they draw. The Old Miami will not levy any fees against performers with the exception of damage or theft of venue property. We respect you so please respect us.

What about outdoor shows?
Shows in The Old Miami's beautiful back yard are considered special events and have to conclude at 11:00pm due to Detroit's noise ordinance.

A nonrefundable $100 deposit will be required within a week of the booking's confirmation to offset our additional costs (security, cleanup, sound, door, etc.)

Our outdoor shows are guaranteed to be a memorable experience! You'd never know the ghetto could be like this! It's Detroit's Cass Corridor's best kept secret. Pass it on!

Who are the regulars at The Old Miami?
Artists, Vets, hipsters, students, bikers, bladers, punks and regular folks who all come for the sense of community. Some of them just wanna shoot some pool or down a couple beers on the way home and will resist your cover charge request. Just smile and ask them to donate something for the bands.

Really this is your party. Bring another act onto the bill. Put the word out and you'll have a great time and meet some cool people. And the door $$ is yours alone. Fair as it comes!
